Terms and Conditions

Travel Insurance:

Travel insurance is mandatory and must include Med-Evac coverage as well as compensation for lost trip days and nights due to unforeseen circumstances or emergencies.  Your travel insurance policy must be submitted to Soul Surf Travel prior to departure, and a printed copy MUST be carried with each traveller to the resort.

Waivers:

All travel documents and guest waiver forms must be signed and sent to Soul Surf Travel prior to arrival.  All guests must complete the Monkeys Resort guest Registration form found here.

Bookings:

All bookings will be routed through Soul Surf Travel who will be facilitating all your trip details.  SST will assist with all questions and guide you with necessary information relating to airfare, accommodations, and travel needs.

Deposits

A 30% deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your trip dates.  Deposits are non-refundable. When booking your trip too Monkeys Resort you agree to our terms & conditions.

Payments:

Final trip payments (70%) are due 90 days prior to arrival at Monkeys Resort All monies are to be paid in AUD or USD.  Confirmation will be sent via email once final payment is received into Monkeys Resort bank account.  All monies are non-refundable but may be applied toward future trip dates if special conditions are met and are approved at least 90 days prior to trip commencement.

No refunds or credits of any kind are issued due to poor surf, weather, airline or travel-related delays or cancellations.  Furthermore, no refunds or credits will be issued due to unstable global, national, or local political or natural disasters or conditions that do not pose a direct threat to the safe operation of the resort.  (see below for global health considerations for Coronavirus)

All on-island expenses (bar tab, massage, photos, gratuities, etc) shall be settled prior to departing Monkeys Resort.  Indonesian Rupiah is the preferred currency for payment; however, exceptions are possible for AUD and USD.  No credit card services are available at the resort, so cash/currency is the only method of payment.  Based on previous averages, it is advised (depending on estimated bar/drink consumption) that each guest brings a minimum of $500-800 AUD cash.  Our ground staff in Padang can assist with any ATM/banking/exchange services if needed. (Padang airport is a good place to do currency exchange, upon arrival)

Price fluctuations and extra costs

We reserve the right to vary prices and rates in the event of changes in exchange rates or price rises made by suppliers. We are not liable in any way if any increase occurs. All prices are quoted in Australian dollars and are subject to fluctuation in exchange rates until fully paid. No booking will be processed until the full deposit is received. The final payment is required 60 days before departure or supplier-specific. If booked inside of 60 days full payment is required immediately.  Costs not included in holiday price include but are not limited to excess baggage, personal spending money, travel insurance, airport departure taxes, passport and inoculation costs and meals other than those specified.

International & Domestic travel

Due to the remote location of the Telo Islands, it is advised that your airfare have additional coverage for changes/cancellations and minimal re-booking fees in the event of any unforeseen circumstances.  Monkeys Resort assumes no responsibility or liability with airfare cancellations or changes or any travel-related conditions that interrupt travel.  Monkeys Resort assumes no liability for lost, delayed, or damaged luggage or surfboards.

Our ground staff will greet you at the Padang airport and provide transportation to your hotel, and also provide transport to the Ferry terminal.  Return transport on your exit is also provided.

Inter-island transport (Padang to Hibala) is provided by Mentawai Fast Ferry, a high-speed passenger boat that delivers guest to Hibala, a village approximately 5 km from Monkeys Resort.  Monkeys Staff will greet you at the Ferry and provide transport to the resort on our speedboat.  The Ferry fares are included in your trip cost by Monkeys Resort, with the exception of surfboard baggage fees which are guest responsibility. As with any travel, the Ferry is prone to possible delays, interruptions and cancellation.  Monkeys Resort assumes no liability for such delays or cancellations but will assist in resolving such matters to make your transit as soon as possible.  No refunds or compensation are warranted due to such delays or cancellations. Any additional expenses due to delays or cancellations of the Mentawai Fast Ferry will be incurred by guests.  This includes chartering of boat or flight to get too or from Monkeys Resort.

  • Monkeys Resort will not be held liable for any lost or damage to any luggage.
  • Monkeys Resort does not accept responsibility for late arrival or non-arrival of surfboards, surfboard bags, diving equipment.
  • Monkeys Resort does not accept liability for missed flights, delayed departures of flights or transfer of destination.
  • Any group/individual who misses the fast ferry service to Monkeys Resort due to cancelled /delayed or missed flights will only be transferred to Monkeys Resort at an additional charge equal to the cost of this transfer/handling.
  • Costs associated with the assistance of transfer will be at the expense of guests.
  • Monkeys Resort accepts no liability or expenses for missed/cancelled or delayed international or domestic flights and Monkeys Resort transfer flights.
  • Changes to guest’s flights and or accommodation, or any additional ground handling will be at the expense of guests.

 

Accommodations in Padang:

Soul Surf Travel will assist in reservations at the Mercure Hotel in Padang.  Hotel costs are the responsibility of the guest.  In the event of any reservation error or over-booking by the hotel, Monkeys Resort and Soul Surf Travel assume no liability for such occurrence.  Monkeys Resort personnel will assist in resolving any such matters.

Cancellation & Refunds

In case of cancellation, deposits and final payments are non-refundable. For cancellations received up to 90 days prior to the date of arrival, with a good reason payment can be credited toward a future trip within 12 months from the date of final payment made (This will be decided by Monkeys Resort management team only). No refund or credit will be provided for cancellations within 90 days of the date of arrival or No Shows.

“There are no refunds of any kind given for poor surf, inclement weather, airline related delays or cancellations and late departures from designated trip date or itinerary.   In addition, there are no refunds given for reasons pertaining to unstable global, national or local political or natural conditions that do not directly pose a threat to the safe operations of Monkeys Resort.

Global Health/Coronavirus policies:

Cancellation Policy – Existing bookings (before 10 March 2020)

1) Bookings paid in full: If outright travel bans are imposed from the country of origin, or by the destination country Indonesia, then a full credit will be held for 12 months from date of trip cancellation

2) Bookings paid in full: Should a pre-existing medical condition present an elevated risk to the COVID-19 virus, then a medical certificate stating such will be required, and this will be considered in conjunction with the current risk level for travel to Indonesia, and a full credit may be held for 12 months from of cancellation.

Cancellation Policy – New bookings (from 10 March 2020)

1)  If outright travel bans are imposed from the country of origin, or by destination country Indonesia, then a full refund will be available.

2)  Should Government Risk level increase to Level 3: “Reconsider your need to travel” be imposed after the date of booking, then a full credit can be held for 12 months from date of cancellation.

3)  Should Government Risk level increase to Level 3: “Reconsider your need to travel” be imposed after the date of booking and in conjunction with a pre-existing medical condition that presents a significantly elevated risk to the COVID-19 virus, then a medical certificate stating such will be required, and a full credit may be held for 12 months from date of cancellation.

International passport and visa requirements  

It is the traveller’s sole responsibility to have 6 months validity remaining on their passport after the date you expect to arrive back to your home country. Please familiarise yourself with any visa and health requirements that may be applicable in the areas you intend visiting. Visa requirements can change, so if you book your holiday well in advance please ensure you check the current visa requirements prior to travel. You are responsible for obtaining any required visa and other travel documents, including all entry, exit, health and other documents which meet the requirement of the government authorities. Any expenditure incurred as a result of documents not meeting government requirements is your sole responsibility.

Group Bookings

 Monkeys Resort reserves the right to modify any arrangements required by, or made on behalf of clients and to cancel the same without notice in the event that Monkeys Resort and its agents arrange bookings on behalf of clients based on reduced group rates and the group of clients wishing to take advantage of such rates are less than the minimum number specified by Monkeys Resort and its agents.

Environment

When booking your surf holiday at Monkeys Resort you agree to act environmentally responsible when on your holiday, helping to help us provide sustainable surf travel worldwide.

Governing Law 

If any dispute arises between you and us, the laws of Australia will apply. You irrevocably and unconditionally submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia and waive any right that you may have to object to an action being brought in those courts.

When booking your holiday with Monkeys Resort or its agents, your agreement with us is acceptance of these terms 

By booking your holiday at Monkeys Resort or using any of our agents, you are agreeing to be bound by the terms of this Agreement and any additional terms and conditions of any of our agents that are relevant to your booking.

You agree on behalf of yourself and those you represent to comply with all terms and conditions including the payment of amounts when due.

You agree that any violation of such terms and conditions may result in (a) the cancellation of your reservation or purchase, (b) your forfeiture of any monies paid for your reservation or purchase, (c) you being denied access to the applicable travel product or service, and (d) our right to debit your account for any costs we incur as a result of such a violation.

Monkeys Resort or its agents do not accept any liability of whatever nature for the acts, omissions or default, whether negligent or otherwise of the service providers in connection with your contract between them and yourselves, over whom we have no direct control, whether or not written notice has been provided to you.

Monkeys Resort or its agents do not accept any responsibility or liability for death, disability, sickness including viruses, injuries, damage, loss, delays, additional expenses, inconvenience or climate conditions that do not match your expectations which are beyond our control, which was not preventable by reasonable diligence on our part.

Monkeys Resort or its agents will not be held liable if Mother Nature does not produce good waves during your trip or be held liable for any reckless or dangerous behaviour including entering into situations exceeding your personal abilities including being affected by drugs and alcohol.

In the event of natural disasters, pandemics or epidemics, terrorism, war, civil unrest, strikes, industrial action, accidents and mechanical failure to transport carriers and service providers Monkeys Resort or its agents shall not be responsible or liable.

Not all service providers can comply with all special requests relating to disability, age physical wellbeing, dietary requirements, baby seats, special medical conditions and Monkeys Resort or its agents shall not be responsible and liable.

It is important to ensure you check all booking details carefully. If travelling internationally, please ensure all names are as they appear on passports. If Monkeys Resort or its agents are not notified about any errors or discrepancies with ticketing in a reasonable amount of time, we will assume all details are correct. Corrections notified too late will be treated as a change of the booking.

Please, note that some service providers charge an additional fee, either at check-in or check out, which covers taxes, utility or local service fees etc. Monkeys Resort or its agents regrets that additional fees are beyond our control and, where possible and when they are known to us, we will advise guests of any additional fees.
